André Rainsford-Alberts, co-founder of Group business Sapconet (Pty) Ltd, crowned South African national paragliding champion.
The national championships were recently held at Barberton in the eastern part of the country, and building on his two decades of experience during which he’s secured a string of competition wins and awards, André clinched a decisive victory during the nail-biting 7-day event. André is also a speed merchant of note, the holder of two unbroken continental speed records.
He has represented South Africa at international events and world championships on several occasions since 2000, with podium finishes on Reunion Island in 2016, at Sun Valley, Idaho in 2012, and an outright victory at the World Cup hosted in South Africa in 2013, earning him the coveted Lewis-Lang 'Pilot of the Year' Trophy from the Aero Club of South Africa.
